We haven't seen a thread on this in a while so I wanted to post an update.
Comparing a new 2025 computer update to my 2017 workhorse computer I can tell you the following:
2025 Build: Intel 20 core Ultra 7 265K with 65GB DDR5 6200ms and 2TB Samsung Pro 980 SSD
2017 Build: Intel 6850K I-7 with 64GB DDR3 and 1TB Samsung Pro SSD
Optimization parameters: length of data investigated: ~ 5000 days (data points)
2 Moving average crossover system with stop loss optimized over all 3 variables with criteria ( forcing single thread optimization in my AB version) and approximately 500K parameters. Identical data start/stop points & settings.
Ultra7 265K single thread system optimization time: 1 hour 20 minutes
6850K system single thread optimization time : 2 hours 25 minutes.
Will try to post a multi-thread comparison.
I think I can get the 265K system time down as I'm optimizing some variables in windows but certainly a significant improvement.
