Characters in classification names that lead to errors

Hi

In the classification name of some symbols are characters like "TAB" and "newline"

--> This leads to overwriting in columns in the exploration.

Bad examples: BIP, CSL, HCHC
Good example: MSFT

Code for troubleshooting

#include_once "Formulas\Norgate Data\Norgate Data Functions.afl"

AddTextColumn(NorgateClassificationNameAtLevel("TRBC",4),"TRBC4 industry");

//Workaround to replace TAB
//AddTextColumn(StrReplace(NorgateClassificationNameAtLevel("TRBC",4),"	",""),"TRBC4 industry");
//Workaround to replace TAB and newline
//AddTextColumn(StrReplace(StrReplace(NorgateClassificationNameAtLevel("TRBC",4),"	",""),"\n",""),"TRBC4 industry");

sharesfloat = NorgateFundamentals("sharesfloat");
AddColumn(sharesfloat, "Shares Float",1.0);

Filter = Name() == "CSL" OR Name() == "BIP" OR Name() == "MSFT" OR Name() == "HCHC";

Problem:

Expected result:

In all of the examples above it's the industry group "Consumer Goods Conglomerates", but I am not sure if this is the only classification with superfluous characters.

Thanks for taking a look at it.

Patrick

Complain to data vendor that you are using, i.e. to Norgate directly (support@norgatedata.com). These are obvious data errors and only data vendor can address problems with data.

In the meantime use StrReplace to get rid of unneeded characters.

Tabs and newlines have been fixed/removed from these classifications/descriptions. Run an update in Norgate Data and they will be resolved.

Cheers,
Richard.
