Hello, newbie here, I just got the software installed.
I have a very basic question on how to import EOD futures data from CSI. I have about 20 yrs worth of data.
I have gone through the documentation from AB and CSI but I'm a bit confused and unclear on how to proceed.
I created a database in AB called CSI.
1/
What should I select in the dropdown for datasource (I don't see CSI listed there)?
2/
For the number of bars, is there a limitation on the value I can enter. To ensure all data is being picked up can I enter a large number like, say, 9999?
Thank you very much. I was able to pull in the data from CSI in an automated manner.
I have a couple of related questions.
1/
I notice the point value for the futures shows up as 1, even though the CSI data file contains point value. Do I need to enter the point value manually for each futures contract in the symbol setup screen?
Or is there any way to pick this up systematically from the CSI files?
2/
The symbol name for futures contracts is set automatically. Is there a way to amend this to something more concise?
I have not used CSI, and both of your questions are related to their s/w .
If you were importing files manually, you can manipulate the data before importing but if you are using the s/w, you need to check their documentation or maybe someone using CSI can answer.
As to renaming the symbol within AB, in the same symbol information window that you posted,
double click on the symbol string and change it to the new name that you want.
Also, for bulk symbol information update, like tick size, this post illustrates how to do it.
one of their images shows Export options, incase their automatic import to AB doesn't work out.
You can do a bulk export / bulk import as a last resort.
