IQFeed connected — how to populate full NYSE/NASDAQ symbol universe?

AmiBroker: 6.93.0 (Build Aug 17 2024) — Professional 64-bit
OS: Windows 11 64-bit
Data plugin: DTN IQFeed RT Plugin (bundled)
IQFeed status: Connected — green OK confirmed in status bar

Database settings confirmed:

  • Bars: 100,000
  • Base interval: 1-minute
  • Allow Mixed EOD/Intraday: checked
  • Intraday filtering: Show 24 hours (no filtering)

Background:
I am new to AmiBroker and have IQFeed connected successfully.

Goal:
Expand to the full NYSE and NASDAQ listed equity universe so
IQFeed backfills 1-minute history across all exchange-listed
stocks. No OTC. No pink sheets.

Questions:

  1. What is the correct and complete method to load approximately
    4,000 NYSE and NASDAQ ticker symbols into AmiBroker?
  2. Does IQFeed begin backfilling 1-minute bars automatically
    after import, or is an additional manual step required?
  3. Is there a recommended technical document or guide for
    populating a large symbol universe with the IQFeed RT plugin?

Any guidance appreciated. I want to learn the correct way from scratch.

The answer has been given many times on this forum. Please use search.

Short hint:

  1. Turn on WAIT FOR BACKFILL (crucial)
  2. Run scan preferably outside of market hours

But generally on the long run for everyday use, rather just one shot backfill, you should have database that is as large as your subscription is (by default 500 symbols)

I only recently discovered AmiBroker through my study of Dave Mabe's work, and I have quickly come to appreciate what you have built. My goal is to learn as much as I can about AmiBroker and become a systematic trader.

I will follow your guidance on Wait for Backfill and running scans outside of market hours. I will also review the forum search results more carefully before posting future questions.
