Loading old database causes charts to disappear

When I load certain (older) databases, I lose all current charts.

For example, when I initial start AmiBroker, this is what my screen looks like:

The default database that gets loaded, as in the above pic, has no data whatsoever, as I don't want AB to perform any unexpected lengthy (background/DLL) calcs until I've selected the database that I need to work on.

Loading a recently created database looks like this:

There are times when I switch between databases, to see what some other data looks like in the current script/chart I’m working on, and expect all the charts/ formulae/ etc to be the same, just different data, similar to the pic just above.

However, when I load an older DB, say from a few years ago (I want to look at the price action again), this is what I get:

As you can see, all the tabs have disappeared, except one.

I’ve experienced this in the past when I’ve opened an AB database that was created in a prior version of AB, and simply worked around it by recreating the charts from scratch in the new/latest version of AB that I’ve installed – I’d prefer not to have to do that again.

On searching the Forum, there are posts from other users who’ve also experienced “ERROR. The formula file Formulas\Drag-drop_Price.afl referenced by this chart cannot be found.”, but none of them mention it occurring when loading a database or in relation to a different version/s of AB.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Each database has its own layouts. You can set global and local defaults for database in layouts.

As said by @Metamega this depends on layouts. Please, see this part of the guide to learn more (save your working layout as a global one and select/use it when using the old databases).
