Thank you Tomasz for being such a wonderful professional, and I appreciate all you do to keep our systems up and running smoothly. It was really easy to download the fix and have AmiQuote working well. Thanks again, Rona
Hi,
unfortunately I am getting this error
after updating to 6.93.0 and 4.15.
What do you recommend?
Thank you
Hi Tomasz - I have to post here as there is a limit on how many times I can post in the other tread where you explain the aqu file format.
I am all good now. Your explanation helps me solved the problem - it is a case of missing aqu format file. For some reason it is missing. Once I have the file in the format directory, it works like a charm.
Once again many thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
It is interesting that aqu1.format file was missing. It is automatically generated whenever you use user-defined data source. Either directory was read-only, or it was generated elsewhere (you might do a search on your hard disk, maybe you have aqu1.format file somewhere else), or antivirus deleted silently the file, or something else prevented file from being written in proper place ("sandboxing" ?).
Normally if AmiQuote could not open the file for writing it would complain clear error message. But if you did not get error message from AmiQuote it suggests that either it went to some other location or something removed the file afterwards.
Did you by chance manually move the AmiBroker from its original installation folder to some other place?
Please do a search on your hard disk for aqu1.format
file, maybe you have aqu1.format
file somewhere else (I am pretty sure it was created some other place) - if you find it somewhere else, please tell me where. It will help in the future as I might implement another check for some unusual situations.
Hi Tomasz - Apology for this late reply due partly to time-zone difference and also I am a carer for an unwell person.
I have done a search for the aqu1 file and it is nowhere to be found other than in where I put in manually.
One possible reason for this missing file without an error message might be due to the fact that I have Amibroker installed on a portable harddrive. Hence the drive is not the standard C:\ drive. It is the E:\ drive in this case. Directory structure remains the same. I did do a scan on the c:\ drive for the aqu1 format file as well and it did not show up there either.
Hope this info is of some help.
Also, with the installation, it was installed directly to the e:\ drive. I did not manually move Amibroker after the installation.
So, what is the exact path where you have AmiBroker and where you have AmiQuote? Drive letters didn't change when you inserted and removed pen drive?
So instead of the standard "C:\Program Files\AmiBroker", mine is "E:\App\AmiBroker" and for Amiquote - instead of "C:\Program Files\AmiBroker\AmiQuote", mine is "E:\App\AmiBroker\Amiquote". The difference is only in "C:\Program Files...." part which becomes "E:\App....." in my case. Everything after that is the same.
Drive letters don't change as I set the portable drive in such a way that it will always be E:\ . Otherwise all the apps that runs from the portable drive will not work.
Hope this helps.
Hello there,
I am having the same problem for many days. I already reinstall Amiquote at the right directory as prescribed (C:\Program Files\AmiBroker\AmiQuote) and yet still getting this error message.
Appreciate your assistance.
Thanks,
Dave
No, you installed in wrong folder.
The message says that it tries to create files in "H:\AmiBroker"
folder.
It is your computer, you have created "H" drive. Is it pendrive? You should know the answer.
What is that folder? Apparently you installed AmiBroker into "H" drive, not "C".
You must install AmiQuote TO THE AMIBROKER INSTALLATION DIRECTORY
If you have AmiBroker in
"C:\Program Files\AmiBroker"
then AmiQuote MUST GO TO THE SAME FOLDER
If you have AmiBroker in
"H:\AmiBroker"
then AmiQuote MUST GO TO THE SAME FOLDER
INSTALL AmIBroker and AmiQuote properly (i.e. FIRST RUN AmIBroker setup, then run AmiQuote setup - AmiQuote must go to THE AMIBROKER FOLDER)
AmiBroker SHOULD NOT BE INSTALLED into removable pendrive, because Windows would change drive letters each time you remove / insert pendrive.
Only if you can GUARANTEE that the drive letter and path doesn't change, then you can use removable drive.
Hi Tomasz,
Thank you for your time. I'm aware you spent many hours on this issue already. I hope you can still accommodate my concern. I've been using Amibroker in tandem with Amiquote for sometime. And it is installed correctly as what you have instructed (screenshot of my explorer below..)
However, this remain an issue.
What happens after clicking "OK" from that error message, Amiquote runs and shown the files were "Imported". But even the option button to auto-update Amibroker, it is not updating the amibroker chart.
thanks,
Dave
OLE registration is missing on your computer.
This is already solved here:
You can fix OLE registration by running ONCE the software (both AmiBroker and AmiQuote) using right click "Run As Admin" menu option.
Thanks Tomasz for your reply. I tried to log as administrator for both Amibroker and Amiquoute but still it did not fix the OLE problem.
Not "log as administrator" but RUN as administrator. As I explained, Windows confuses users and "Administrator" account does NOT have rights to modify OLE registry unless elevated.
To elevate rights you have to use "Run as administrator" right click option.
See the following instructions that explain how to RUN as administrator
